Events & Honors:
Soccer: Our Boys and Girls Soccer teams had fantastic seasons this year! Thank you to Coach Veronica Sakola for coaching our Girls Soccer Team. Thank you also to Coach Bryan Flickinger who led the Boys Soccer Team to an undefeated season. We are grateful for you!
Starlight Awards: Congratulations to Casey Juliano, our robotics teacher, and Christina Ortiz, our banker, for the honor of being our Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year at the first annual CCSD Starlight Awards! We are so honored to have you as part of our Greenspun staff!
Robotics World Championships: Our three robotics teams have returned from the Vex World Championship in Dallas, where they competed against the top teams from 50 states and over 70 nations. They all had a strong showing! Team A finished an already fantastic season by making it to Division Finals— a remarkable feat! Team Y earned one of the highest scores at Worlds, and Team Z just missed the division finals by one place. It is an extraordinary accomplishment to make it to Worlds, and to perform at such a high level is something to be proud of. Thank you to our sponsors, the City of Henderson, and our phenomenal Greenspun community for the enthusiasm and support you have shown our teams!

8th Grade Dance: GJHS Annual 8th Grade Dance is on 5/19/2023 from 6-8 pm! 8th Grade dance tickets will be available for sale starting on Monday at 1st and 2nd lunch! Get your ticket for only $5! Snacks and drinks will be for sale at the dance! Dress code will be enforced and no bags larger than an 8.5x11 sheet of paper will be allowed. You must be a Greenspun 8th grade student with your ID to purchase a ticket and enter the dance.
4th Quarter Grades: The end of the school year is almost here! All assignments must be turned in by Wednesday, May 17th. Please check Infinite Campus to see what assignments are missing or to check your grades. Remember ALL assignments are due by Wednesday, May 17th.

Summer School: Summer school sign-ups are finally here! If you are interested in taking some classes this summer please contact or meet with your school counselor. Summer Code Camp for Middle School Girls: The 2023 UNLV Summer Code Camp is a half-day summer program held for 5 days from Monday, June 12th, 2023 to Friday, June 16th, 2023 for girls who are interested in learning how to code. This program is sponsored by the College of Sciences and the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Education at UNLV, with funding from the National Science Foundation. The program is intended to introduce coding to girls at an early age, expose them to diverse applications of software in Biology and Science, and support and increase the number of women in computer science related fields. We are planning on building a visual animated game that will introduce girls to the concept of evolution, while exposing them to hands on software design. Awards Night: Eighth Grade Awards Night is on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Greenspun Junior High School Gym. We will not have an Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony! This program is by invitation only for eighth graders who will receive a Department Award, Three Year Straight A Award, President's Award, or Principal Award. Students will receive an invitation by Tuesday, May 9, 2023, to attend the event. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact Ms. Barker's office at 702-799-0920, extension 4201.
Chromebook Collection: All student chromebooks must be turned in on Wednesday, May 17 in students’ 6th period class. Chromebooks must be returned in clean, working condition. Students must also take care to return their Greenspun charger with the Greenspun Junior High barcode sticker adhered. Please do not return siblings’ chargers from other schools. Summer Acceleration Registration: The time has arrived! Fill out your official registration form for our Summer Acceleration program. Current Greenspun students, including incoming 6th graders, are welcome to attend. Summer Acceleration will be held from May 30th through June 16th during our regular school hours (8:00 am - 2:11 pm.) Once you have filled out your registration form, please go to each link to choose your classes. Fill out one form per child, please. We’re looking forward to a great three weeks!
