Principal’s Message:
What would Greenspun Junior High School be without Mr Andy Slocum? Even though he might not think so, teachers, students, and staff believe that he is the best librarian ever!
In fact, Mr. Slocum is more than just a librarian. He is the heart of the school. He consistently finds innovative ways to create an inviting, positive, and safe space in his amazing library. On any given day, it is easy to see a room full of students who are reading books, playing games, researching projects, or just hanging out having fun.
That is why it gives me great pleasure to congratulate Mr. Slocum for being presented with the Exemplary Employee Award by the CCSD Team Engagement Department in honor of CCSD Librarians Day.
I know that Mr. Slocum doesn’t always get excited about awards because his ultimate reward is watching kids discover a love of reading, and then, when they keep reading, that makes him even happier. Mr. Slocum is that person who inspires kids, and that is one of the most valuable things a teacher can do.

Wind Symphony: We are very proud of our amazing Wind Symphony! On Wednesday, they traveled to UNLV and performed for a panel of judges. We received numerous compliments from other band directors and from the judges. One judge even came over and said that we were just about the best middle school band they had ever heard! Congratulations on receiving straight Superior + (The highest rating possible) ratings from all judges for the second year in a row!

GVHS Cheer Tryouts: Attention 8th Graders. Green Valley High School Cheerleading Tryouts will be April 2-4 from 3pm to 6pm in the GVHS cafeteria. An informational meeting will be held at Green Valley HS, at 6pm March 11th in room 200. You will need to complete a tryout packet and have a current physical to tryout. Webstore: The online webstore upgrade is almost entirely completed. Payments may now be made in person to the banker using VISA, Mastercard, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. American Express is not currently accepted, but will be added soon! The online webstore will also be available this Monday, December 16 for payments for PE clothing, ID cards/lanyards and birthday greetings, with more items being added soon! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to add items to our new online webstore! BIRTHDAY GREETINGS: Do you want an easy and fun way to celebrate your child's birthday at school? For $15, we will display a short message on the outdoor digital marquee to help celebrate the day. Additionally, a bag of treats and a personalized birthday card will be delivered to your child during the school day. All funds raised help support Greenspun clubs and activities.
